With convenient cargo room, a capable drivetrain, and classic luxury, there's nothing quite like driving a luxury SUV. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3 offer all of that, but which one is the better fit for you? Mercedes-Benz of Midland finds out. We put this 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. BMW X3 comparison together to help drivers in Midland, Odessa, and San Angelo, Texas, decide.

Performance Specs

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is built to get through rough weather, down rugged roads, and accelerate like a sports car. Its exhilarating base engine is a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder with up to 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

To manage your drive, this impressive powertrain is paired with a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but 4MATIC® all-wheel drive is also available.

The BMW X3 is also available with all-wheel drive but it's not quite as versatile as its German counterpart. The 8-speed automatic doesn't give you as many gears and the base engine doesn't provide you with as much power either. The X3 also features a 2.0L 4-cylinder, but it only gets up to 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Interior

Taking a seat in the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is like settling into an exquisite lounge chair. Its sport seats are available with fine leather upholstery and offer lots of ways to relax with power front seats and memory settings.

Once you've gotten comfortable, you'll notice that the cabin has a perfect balance of traditional luxury and modern technology. On one hand, its graceful design surrounds you with wood accents and includes a flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel.

On the other hand, you'll be immersed in the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). This user-friendly infotainment system includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, voice control, and lots of smartphone-compatible features.

You won't find the same luxury or experience in the BMW X3. While it includes seating for five and plenty of storage space, it's equipped with black accents and glass controls. A pair of large displays are also present, but its iDrive infotainment system isn't as user-friendly.

Safety Features

While both SUVs offer high-end amenities, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is built to give you peace of mind too. It features state-of-the-art driver assist technology that'll help prevent accidents before they occur. Some of its smart safety features include:

  • ATTENTION ASSIST®
  • Surround View System
  • Crosswind Assist
  • Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist

The 2022 BMW X3 also includes some advanced safety features, but it doesn't give you anything that can manage crosswinds, tell you when it's safe to get out, or remind you to keep your eyes on the road. While it does include a rear-view camera, you won't be able to get an overhead view like you'll find on the Surround View System.
